Mission Statement

* * *  under renovation; thank you for your patience as we complete our web site overhaul ; May 11, 2008 * * *

Osa Water Works provides engineering and construction services for off-the-grid homes and businesses as well as retrofitting of existing structures and enterprises to provide for water and energy efficiency, self-sufficiency, waste reduction, recycling, and other measures of best management practices for environmentally sustainable development, resource renewal, and reduction of residential dependence upon fossil fuels and non-sustainable use of natural resources.

Primary features of comprehensive facility hydroelectric, potable, and irrigation water supply for commercial eco-lodge in southern Osa Peninsula.

Septic design for lowland commercial lodge near Uvita where the ground does not perc, requiring collection of waste in sump tank and pumping to a nearby sloped area where septic percolation is favorable.

Project evaluation and development is undertaken according to the following steps.

1)  Problem Evaluation.  We start with all the information you can provide related to the property in question.  On the basis of your answers we will reply with estimates of hydroelectric potential and the scope of work required to make the best decisions about water supply, power development, waste management, or all three as needed.  Initial evaluation and exploratory correspondence carries no charge and no obligation.  We reply to every request, often within 24 hours.  For projects in which the ownership wishes to proceed with more detailed evaluation, the next step is a site survey and resource evaluation.

2)  Site Survey.  A detailed on-site resource evaluation provides the information necessary for design, costing, and economic analysis of the alternative solutions that may be available.  Results are summarized in a detailed report that includes:  expected power and water yields and their adequacy for the project being considered, engineering alternatives available and their estimated costs, and a detailed estimate for installation of OWW's recommended solution, including economic analysis (cost/benefits and return on investment).  A resource evaluation will carry a fee that may vary between $250 and $1500 depending upon the scope of work and the amount of field work required to gather basic information.

3)  Engineering and Design.  The third step in OWW project development consists of a detailed engineering and design phase to include all the installation details and engineering drawings and calculations as well as a formal bid for installation.  This report is sufficiently detailed to enable the client to present it to other firms for competitive installation bids.  Commonly engineering and design done within the resource evaluation and does not carry additional fees, but for larger projects an engineering fee usually applies and is partially refunded if OWW is awarded the installation contract..

4)  Construction and Installation.  The final step is the installation of the solutions proposed, engineered, and designed.

5)  Guarantee.  First, we guarantee we'll present all the technical and cost information needed for you to make responsible and well-informed decisions from your initial inquiry through final design, costing, and installation.  Our water intakes, pipelines, equipment, plumbing, wiring, and instrumentation are guaranteed to be free from defects in materials and workmanship and have usable lives measured in decades.

If you would like to make an inquiry concerning your project, you may do so by filling out this form or simply by writing me here to describe the nature of your inquiry.
